NZ Quake minister backs insurers’ actions
NEW ZEALAND’S Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee has said that he is happy with the way the insurance industry has conducted itself since the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011 that severely damaged the Canterbury region, despite a controversy surrounding new guidelines that have been issued by the Department of Building & Housing, which have enabled insurers to reclassify red-zone houses from “write-offs” to “repairable”.
