Quakes, models and PPPs dominate catastrophe risk considerations
The decreased allocation of capital to earthquake risk in the US, the relative efficiencies of state insurance pools and private insurer, and the way catastrophe model predictions needed to be used as aids rather than prescriptions were all factors considered by a panel at the Insurance Day Summit Bermuda, moderated by Florida insurance commissioner, Kevin McCarty.
