Firm reinsurance prices prompt primary players to up retentions
THE BENIGN hurricane season of 2006 and a disconnect between softening primary rates and firm reinsurance rates has led many primary players to increase their retention levels as much as fivefold this year, according to Alan Dawes, chief underwriting officer for construction lines and senior vice-president for Asia at Liberty International Underwriters (LIU).
