... has confirmed that it has about 546,000 policies with unclaimed benefits of about ¥193.6bn ($2.08bn), consisting mainly of maturity benefits and refunds on lapses that were sold before the spinning-off of the company and which remain unclaimed. The insurer, which was spun off from Japan Post, said that it had also discovered 353,000 policies for which benefit payments may have been inadequate.
