Premiums totalled CNY7bn ($1.02bn), covering 61.5m farmers, representing a 49.2% increase year on year. The CIRC said that payments were made to 5m farmers, with a total of nearly CNY3.4bn being paid out. Of this, CNY1.4bn related to crop insurance and CNY2bn was for livestock breeding.
