... have affirned their ratings of Italian insurer Generali, subsequent to the insurer’s announcement that it had ended its joint venture with Sanpaolo Intesa. Moody’s referred to Generali’s “robust underlying performance” when affirming the company’s Aa3 insurance financial strength rating, while S&P maintained its rating of double A with a negative outlook. S&P said that it would “monitor the impact of the loss of the bancassurance agreement on the group’s competitive position, earnings and capitalization”.
