AIG looks for US asset backstop
Troubled insurer AIG, facing difficulties in selling off non-core assets, is engaged in talks with the US government for a federal backstop for some of the company’s impaired assets and is said to be weighing a move to sell certain units through initial public offerings (IPOs).
