Transatlantic rating
Rating firm Standard & Poor’s has downgraded the counterparty credit rating of reinsurer Transatlantic Holdings to BBB+ from A- and the credit and financial strength of its core operating units to A+ from AA-, citing the group’s “inability to meet operating performance expectations” and concerns that AIG’s majority (59%) ownership of the company could constrain the reinsurer’s financial flexibility.
