US report: The true cost of Sandy
The economic consequences of the damage caused by superstorm Sandy were significant, especially considering the concentrated commercial interests and population density of the eastern seaboard from New Jersey to Rhode Island, most notably Lower Manhattan and Staten Island. A damage survey was conducted by Guy Carpenter & Company’s GC Analytics© during the eight-week period after the event. At the time of the survey, many structures in Lower Manhattan were still closed.
