VENEZUELAN insurance activity is now subject to greater government interference following the recently enacted Insurance Activity Law -Ley de la Actividad Aseguradora- which grants the Superintendency of Insurance superior authority to oversee and administer the “framework for the control, surveillance, supervision, authorisation, regulation and functioning of the insurance activity”, reports Aileen Camacho, of Gates and Partners, Solicitors.
