International reinsurers will face large chunk of New Zealand loss
A LARGE percentage of the multi-billion dollar loss from Tuesday’s earthquake in Christchurch will be passed to the international reinsurance market, prompting warnings that some companies may find a significant chunk of their annual catastrophe buffer exhausted during the first quarter.
