US Senate passes regulatory reform bill
The US Senate on Thursday, after weeks of debate, approved sweeping reforms for regulation of banks, insurers and other players on Wall Street to curb speculative trading of derivatives and other risky securities that contributed to the 2008 financial crisis, the collapse of several large investment banks and the near-failure of insurer AIG.
