Australian reinsurance costs rocket up to 50%
Reinsurance costs in the wake of this year’s devastating flood activity in Australia have increased by as much as 50% in some cases, with carriers now less willing to write lower levels of cover because of the strain this year’s heavy global catastrophe bill is placing on balance sheets, the regulator of the country’s insurance sector has claimed.
